Our Mission
By enabling technology and integrating people, processes and information UIS provides best industry specific practices to build the intelligent electricity network. All processes from operating the grid to back office are effectively governed through UIS’ IEN solutions. (Solution Overview)

Why Customer’s turn to UIS
Energy and Utility companies provide essential services by relying on their extensive networking infrastructure to deliver energy. To supply these critical services, utilities operate in a high risk environment. They are facing deregulation, dealing with legacy systems, aging assets, departing expertise, increasing regulatory pressure and escalating customer expectations in the market and are looking for ways to reduce costs, increase productivity while supplying reliable energy. By turning to UIS as their expert consultancy and engineering partner, Utilities mitigate risks and effectively handle such challenges. (Solution Overview)

Solution Overview
Utility Operation managers are under pressure by regulatory bodies to make better use of their existing equipment while reducing costs. Operators put huge upfront investment to expand the network based on future customer demand. The old “Lights On” model will not survive in today’s market. Utility Operators need to have detailed insight across their enterprise – from the grid to the back office - taking into consideration productive ways to control, monitor and protect the grid, effectively manage assets while integrating and streamlining processes.

Utility companies are also aggressively looking for more accurate predictions on where to invest and how they can control the supply and service costs while continually improving it. This will be only possible when reliable information is delivered to the right processes and people at the right time.

Utilities are operating their network by using different applications and systems. They use SCADA/EMS/DMS/GMS for controlling the Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Enterprise Asset Management for governing their assets, GIS system for geographical distribution of the equipment over network, Work Force management for dispatching the crew and other applications (for example Inventory, Purchasing, Payroll etc) in different divisions/business units. What is missing? How utilities can utilize the existing information from various systems/applications to trigger processes that span and go beyond their enterprise to govern and ensure bottom-line results.

Critical elements to the decision making process are quality and management of data. To discover true value, UIS facilitates the use of IP enabled intelligent devices for condition based monitoring of assets, equipment state and network status all feeding information to a centralized repository that triggers enterprise wide processes and necessary actions.

UIS offers Intelligent Electricity Network (IEN) solutions that bridge the gap between power and IT to enable utilities to be “high performers” by delivering reliable energy at a cost effective price through the use of increased grid observability Energy Automation, Business Performance Management, Enterprise Application Integration, Enterprise Asset Management and analytics. Below is a partial list of customer-value UIS delivers through IEN solutions:

  • Optimal Asset utilization - optimization of system performance
  • IT and Operational Asset lifecycle management
  • Strategic planning
  • Capital expenditure planning
  • Business Performance Management
  • Maximization of Customer Satisfaction
